They are 100% handcrafted by a woodworker and hand-coated by a urushi refiner. Find out more about the project below. The set includes a blue, green, red, and yellow straw and a cleaning brush. Ideal for party drink markers or solo enjoyment. ABOUT THE PROJECT This is a project initiated by our friend and collaborator in all things Kintsugi, Takuya Tsutsumi - a 4th generation urushi refiner. With a passion for revitalizing the urushi industry and making urushi a bigger part of our daily life, he has teamed up with his woodworker friend to create a straw with a sustainable life cycle - from beginning to end. The wood comes from leftover cedar found at local lumber mills and logging sites and the urushi is coated at Mr. Tsutsumi’s urushi refining workshop five minutes away from our office.
