The Alterna jar with a 80 ounce blending capacity (between 10 oz - 80 oz) is an after-market replacement jar for Blendtec blenders with the ability to switch out or change the blade assembly. The minimum blend capacity is about 10-12 ounces of ingredients. This is because the blade assembly housing making or needing mor space on the bottom the jar inside. The advantage is that you have more space cleaning out expensive delicious ingredients after the blending. If you blend like only 8 ounces the knives will likely jus push it all in the corners- so you need to add more ingredients, at least blend 10-12 ounces. The Alterna lid fits on the Blendtec Wildside / Fourside blender jars, and visa versus. The 4-arm blending unit has sharp edges for better blending and cutting, especially with fine seeds. Special notes: The Blendtec lid fits on the Alterna Jar. The Blendtec lid has a 'vented' cap, which the Alterna lid does not have. The Alterna lid can leak if you blend water. Water has absolutely no nutritional value. If you make almond milk or very watery concoction, you can use the tamper - buying the other package- as a venting-object, or blend your concoction into a smoothie texture first and then add more liquid on 'SLOW', or just use the Blendtec lid. If you don't have a Blendtec lid and you want one, please contact us, we can sell you one (subject to availability). Washing: Hand-Wash and Hand-Dry only. Don't use the dishwasher to clean your jar, don't put it into a water puddle in the sink or leave it in that puddle, or leave your smoothie / drink in the jar and store it Don't wash it ' soap water jar on the blender - blend and repeat and rinse etc - This is very bad for the bearing.
