A friend came to me one day with a beautiful old Queen Bird and Trout knife in a sheath that just didn't do it justice and asked if I would make a new one for him that would carry easily, keep the knife from slipping, and be easy to access. This is the result of that project, the Yellow Birch Outfitters Bird and Trout.

This sheath is designed to ride with the handle above the belt line and has a wide button stud flap closure to keep your knife rust free with just the pommel visible while being easy to open, even with gloves or numb fingers. One stud holds the oversized flap closed at the front of the handle, so just throw a few fingers under and POP, you can get to your knife. The extra leather keeps the handle from digging into your side making for a very comfortable carry, even for those of us with love handles. Having the knife this high also keeps it from getting snagged every time you go to sit.

Crafted from 5 oz. vegetable tanned leather, this sheath is fully welted with 9 oz leather and riveted at the ends with solid copper rivets, meaning this sheath will go with the knife to your next of kin. It is also cemented and stitched with #138 nylon thread. You can trust this sheath to perform day in and day out no matter what season you're using it in.
