In this Test Kitchen, we set out to test the top-selling omelette pans. We put their nonstick coatings to the test by abusing them with a metal spatula and a chainmail scrubber, then seeing which ones could still make a perfect omelette. We also show you how to cook the classic American omelette. The big question we set out to answer is whether an inexpensive pan can make a good omelette. Everybody’s seen the Copper Chef commercials, and we wanted to find out if the pans can live up to their hype. In this video we showcase the making of the classic American style (diner) omelette in each of our ultra non-stick pans. We then try another omelette after scraping up the pans with a metal spatula. At this point, despite never wanting to see an omelet again, we worked the pans over with a chainmail scrubber and did another round. After all that, we attempt to fry an over-easy egg without any fat. We also take a look at a few specialty omelet pans.
