This large piece was wheel-thrown using high mica content clay from New Mexico - micaceous clay, and hand burnished with micaceous slip. Excellent for bread baking or slow cooked beans (with a stovetop diffuser, fyi). Never put into an already hot oven as extreme temperature differences can damage the piece. If using to bake, place piece into cold oven and bring to temperature.
Comes pre-seasoned, but can be 'reset' and by placing in a wood fire. Natural smoke color variations will result, and then re-season as you would a cast iron skillet. Do not soak overnight or use as a place to store cooked food. Use wooden or non-metal utensils to avoid scratching the natural unglazed surface. Please hand wash only with either mild soap or just warm water and a scrub brush or sponge.
