About- The history of this heirloom variety can be traced back to the late 1800s. This variety was passed to Edith Kennel of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania by her mother. The variety produces a vigorous plant that will be covered with beautiful, green pods accented with blush-pink streaks. The elongated seeds range in color from gray to chocolate-brown, all with black stripes.
Planting- Plant in spring when the soil temperature is above 65°F. Pole beans require a trellis or other form of support.
Care & Harvest- Grows best in soils with a pH between 6 and 7 and light fertilization. Do not over-fertilize as this will cause an overgrowth of foliage and not allow pods to form. Harvest when beans are filled out but still firm, 6-8 pods. Or allow pods to fully dry on plant. Once dry remove beans from pods and store in a dry location for use later.
